Aaron took fire from off the altar (which represents the suffering and sacrifice of Christ) and ran into the midst of the people “and he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.” Aaron also represented Jesus, but as God’s high priest, and God dramatically demonstrated he had appointed his high priest in a way that pointed forward to the resurrection of Christ.
