The suffering of Jesus on the cross described here is commented on in Matthew so here is a good place to point out that the word 'cross' does not appear in the original scriptures, but the word so translated in the NT is a ‘stake’ [Greek: stauros]; ‘crucified’ is ‘impaled on a stake’ [Greek: stauroo]; and, when reference is made to Jesus hanging on ‘a tree’, it is ‘a timber pole’ [Greek: xoolon]. This is all in accordance with the foreshadowing of Christ’s death in the wilderness of Egypt, when the Israelites were dying because of serpent bites. Moses lifted up a brazen serpent on a pole, and all who looked to it were healed – as all those who look to Christ in the prescribed way will be: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish.” (John 3:14-15).Waiting for response for John 3:14-15
This is important to note because the 'sign of the cross' is the 'mark of the beast' imposed on the people of Europe by the Catholic church (Revelation 13:11,16),Waiting for response for Revelation 13:11,16 and those who have this mark on them will be subject to the wrath of God (Revelation 14:9-10)Waiting for response for Revelation 14:9-10 and will disbar them from living and reigning with Christ. (Revelation 20:4).Waiting for response for Revelation 20:4
