The service of Aaron and his sons in the tabernacle was typical of Jesus as our High Priest which is very enlightening for us, but the translators of the KJV added the phrase "for us" to the statement that he obtained eternal redemption. v.12.Waiting for response for Hebrews 9:12 This has led people away from the truth that Jesus, through having our nature (Hebrews 2:14)Waiting for response for Hebrews 2:14 had himself to obtain redemption from that sinful nature. By this misleading translation, the truth concerning Jesus' great victory over sin has been nullified and has led to the corruption of other vital first principles. Jesus was certainly sacrificed to save us, but he also saved himself thereby, as it is written: "he was brought again from the dead through the blood of the everlasting covenant (Hebrews 13:20),Waiting for response for Hebrews 13:20 i.e. "his own blood".
Furthermore, the translators violated the rules of grammar. In Greek all verbs have a 'voice': active, passive, or middle, which is reflexive. For example, "the boy kicked the ball" (active); "the ball was kicked by the boy" (passive); "the boy kicked himself" (middle and reflexive). In English we need to use a pronoun such as 'himself' to express the reflexive but in Greek it is indicated by the word ending, and the verb 'obtained' here is definitely of the middle voice and reflexive. If the translators had to add words, it should have been: "he obtained eternal for himself". That Jesus was delivered by his own sacrifice is inculcated elsewhere, for example in the typical activity of Aaron sacrificing for himself first, and afterwards for the people. (Hebrews 7:27).Waiting for response for Hebrews 7:27
