There are seven blessings promised.
Abram was promised a seed but didn't enter Canaan until he was 75 and had Isaac when he was 100 years old, so he had to wait 25 years before he was given this son. This required a great deal of patience and is a great example for us.
Abram obeyed God and travelled with his father and other members of his family from Ur to Haran in Mesopotamia near the source of the Euphrates. Later, when his father died, he crossed the river with his wife and nephew Lot, and journeyed to the Promised Land which Abram discovered was the land of Canaan. The LORD then promised to give this land to Abram’s seed: “Unto thy seed will I give this land” and this seed, the New Testament teaches, is Christ Galatians 3:29Waiting for response for Galatians 3:29
This section foreshadows the Exodus. There was a famine in the land, just as there was when Jacob went into Egypt. Sarai was made a slave when they arrived, just as the people of Israel were. God brought plagues upon Egypt and his house, just as he did to the Egyptians because of the children of Israel. They were thrust out of the land with wealth, just as Pharaoh did to the people of Israel.
Sarai was actually Abram's sister - he was not lying.
Sarai was Abram's sister and wife, just as the saints are Jesus' wife and sister.
