This last Psalm of David v.20Psalms 72:20XWaiting for response is a prayer for God to establish Christ upon the throne of Israel to reign over his people and all the earth and to bring all the promised blessings.

Verses 2-7

Verses 8,11

The first dominion of the kingdom of God will be the Holy Land promised to Abraham, “from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates”. Genesis 15:18Genesis 15:18XWaiting for response The breadth of this land is “from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean” and the length is “from the desert to the river” Euphrates. Verses 15-17

Human rulers, however benevolent, eventually die and others take their positions of power and authority. But King Jesus “shall live”, because he is immortal, and his benevolent reign will continue without interruption throughout the Millennium, and the people of the earth will pray continually for him.v.15Psalms 72:15XWaiting for response The Father has given him a name above every name Philippians 2:9Philippians 2:9XWaiting for response and “his name shall endure for ever” and “all nations shall call him blessed”.v.17Psalms 72:17XWaiting for response All people “shall be blessed in him” v.17Psalms 72:17XWaiting for response and one particular blessing will be the abundance of food for the population of the earth. Crops will grow in the most unlikely places, even “in the earth upon the tops of the mountains” v.16Psalms 72:16XWaiting for response so that, adequately fed, the inhabitants “of the city shall flourish like the grass of the earth”.v.16Psalms 72:16XWaiting for response

Verses 18-19

God has promised to do wonders in the earth when he establishes his king in Zion, and he is the only one who can transform the earth, as described in this Psalm: “Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen”.
