< Psalms 139 >

This Psalm explains how God, who dwells in heaven, is at the same time present everywhere by his Spirit, “for in him we live, and move, and have our being”. Acts 17:28Acts 17:28XWaiting for response

Verses 1-5

Psalms 139:1-5XWaiting for response

God knows all about every one of us, including what we do, what we say, and even what we think.

Verse 6

Verses 8-12

Psalms 139:8-12XWaiting for response

Everything is made and sustained by God’s Spirit which pervades the universe so that we cannot go anywhere where God is not.

Verses 14-17,23-24

Psalms 139:14-17,23-24XWaiting for response

God created us and we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”.v.14Psalms 139:14XWaiting for response These verses may refer to our natural bodies but they probably principally refer to “the body of Christ” which is composed of people. The words are those of the Spirit of Christ describing the development of the members of his body whose names are written in the LORD’s book of life.v.16Psalms 139:16XWaiting for response We should ensure that his thoughts are as precious to us as they were to Jesus v.17Psalms 139:17XWaiting for response and develop characters like his, enabling us to say: “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting”.vs.23-24Psalms 139:23-24XWaiting for response
