The prophet Joel was sent to the elders of Israel to warn them of the terrible affliction to come upon the people and the land in four distinct phases. These are represented by four stages of the development of a locust and these phases correspond exactly with those foretold through Daniel by the vision of Nebuchadnezzar's image (Daniel 2:31-34)Daniel 2:31-34XWaiting for response and of the four beasts seen by himself (Daniel 7:2-3),Daniel 7:2-3XWaiting for response representing the kingdoms which would in turn rule the world: Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome.
Furthermore, in Hebrew, a value can be calculated for any word or name. and the names of these locust swarms have values which correspond the number of years successive great kingdoms ruled over the world and the Promised Land. These relationships are set out here, with dates in history of their dominion.
