Verses 1-3

The first few verses of this chapter continues the prophecy from chapter 11.

Jesus, “the great prince” given the symbolic name “Michael” meaning “Who like God”, will destroy him and his armies.v.1Daniel 12:1XWaiting for response There will be in those days a time of trouble such has never been since the nations came into existence, but it is at this same time that eternal life will be given to those whose names are written in the book of life.v.1Daniel 12:1XWaiting for response They will be delivered by resurrection from the dead, for “many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt”.v.2Daniel 12:2XWaiting for response It is vital to be wise now and do what God requires, for “they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever”.v.3Daniel 12:3XWaiting for response Jesus will be the sun of the new political constitution of the world, and the saints will be the stars, and together they will establish righteousness in the earth: “Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment. Verses 10-13

The timing of events among the nations are in God’s hands but we know that the moment of his intervention is near at hand. We should make ourselves ready, for “Blessed is he that waiteth” v.12Daniel 12:12XWaiting for response and he “shall be purified and made white”,v.10Daniel 12:10XWaiting for response where white symbolises righteousness.
