< 1 Timothy >

Timothy was a young man of Lystra who believed the gospel and was baptized into Christ. The apostle Paul revisited Lystra on his second journey and took Timothy with him as an assistant in the work of the Lord. Acts 16:1-3Waiting for response for Acts 16:1-3 Timothy appears prominently in the record, and often in Paul’s letters, but eventually Paul left him at Ephesus to deal with adversaries of the truth because there was a falling away from the true gospel among the disciples in that city 1 Timothy 1:3,18.Waiting for response for 1 Timothy 1:3,18 Paul wrote two letters to Timothy to encourage and guide him as an overseer, having the Spirit gift of rulership. Because of adversaries, we find references to Satan (Hebrew for “adversary”) and devil (Greek for “false accuser”) in these letters. Also, Paul gave guidance in his letter on the appointment of men to positions of service within the church.
