Verse 1

Waiting for response for 1 Samuel 3:1

Hannah lived at a time when “there was no open vision”. Throughout history there have been different dispensations, with varying degrees of God manifestation. In some periods God has inspired prophets to speak his words and to perform mighty deeds, but at other times he has remained silent. Our days are like those of Hannah, for there is no open vision now, and so “the word of the LORD is precious” i.e. it is scarce and highly valued by those who appreciate it. However, there soon came a change in those days, for Hannah’s son was inspired to speak for the LORD, so that once more the people could hear the spoken word of God.

During periods when God is silent, people are inclined to conclude either that he does not exist or that he acts neither on behalf of his people nor against the wicked, but he warns us against such an attitude Psalm 50:21-23.Waiting for response for Psalm 50:21-23 The scriptures foretold that when Israel were scattered among the nations there would be no prophets to enlighten the people Amos 8:11-12Waiting for response for Amos 8:11-12 & Isaiah 60:2.Waiting for response for Isaiah 60:2 Nevertheless, the signs of the times indicate we are approaching the time when God will again openly intervene in the affairs of the world and this same chapter of Isaiah speaks of that time when Christ returns to Israel and the light of God’s truth enlightens the people.
